Toxic!?! Have a bit of sympathy. The woman regresses and is still intact with all the trauma she received from Oscar and previous lives she had. No inch of self-worth was left of her but trauma. She was not able to process all that and yes she was manipulating Carcel but that was the only way she could think of saving herself from the hell she was living, and thought that Carcel would not love her because she never felt love from the previous life she recall. Her life right now is all about surviving and not loving.
And this, I totally understand. What I don't like to see, it's the comments looking at Carcel's past behaviour and not forgetting it while accepting Ines's behaviour as the only good one.
Between both, if judging behaviours, to me, Ines's behaviour is by far the most unhealthy one, so yes, toxic like I said. Because it's unhealthy for her but for all the other people as well. Ofc she needed time to heal and that's all it is about after all. Trauma doesn't heal so quickly. And yes, that shitty crown prince was trash.
But how can we agree with her behaviour and still seeing Carcel's behaviour as bad??? That's what I don't understand and I don't want to agree with. They both did wrong. And they're both worth the forgiveness as well. Not just Ines.
So basically you're criticizing Ines' behaviour, which is due to excessive and horrendous trauma, because you don't like seeing people criticize Carcel, therefore making it a competition on who's "more toxic". That just seems extremely counterproductive lmao. Why do you have to bring Ines down to support Carcel? That makes no sense. I love them both personally and understand both their perspectives.
Honestly, I do not really care about Carcel. If I cared, I would have tried to find him excuses bruh. I just don't like how so many people find excuses for the sin of Ines and accusing the other sinner to be the worst one.
Maybe I'm saying that because I've been one of the people suffering from someone who was in a traumatic behaviour? I would never find excuses for my sister's wrong behaviour while being in a trauma.
Truly it has nothing to do with Carcel or Ines. It's just me, not accepting to put a green card on someone just because he/she is sick. Wrong behaviour are wrong behaviour, whatever the situation was, whatever type of behaviour it was, if it's wrong, it's wrong. Which is why I'm saying, if you allow Ines to be forgiven, then yous should forgive Carcel as well.
I see, I understand better now what message you were trying to convey, though I'm not sure I fully agree. My standpoint is that there's no need to point blame at anyone in this situation. Ines is acting with the goal to survive and live in peace for once, while Carcel wants them to be happy together. While her trauma will never be an *excuse* to manipulate, self-sabotage and push people away, it is an *explanation* to her behaviour. And it is sadly understandable considering what she's been through.
I understand your frustration of people protecting Ines while critizicing Carcel - many just feel very strongly about cheating, even in fiction. Just how you relate Ines' behaviour to your sister's. I think there's no need to put them up against each other as it's very different situations they've been put in.
Thank you for further explaining though. :)
I've never read the novel and yet, I'm on Carcel's side. Actually, I've been thinking that Inès was quite toxic because she could only think of her past trauma and thus, impacting the other people (Carcel, servants,...) without even trying to understand on what basis she has an impact. She just appeared too egotistical.
Now, she is finally seeing her past as it is. She is starting to understand Carcel and not just herself. She is starting to be empathetic with others.
She is having a character development, just like Carcel and yet, webtoon readers seems to only want to see Ines's and deny Carcel's.
As a webtoon reader myself, I must say this is just being blind. Really.
