Getting queer-er by the seconds, this manga

Idk if it's just the translation but Tachibana being referred to with "they"? Love it

meh, i would totally support "they" if tachibana would openly question his gender identity, but the translators made jinguji use "they" during the confession scene, when tachibana was officially 100% identifying as a male and thus misgendering him. on top of that, killing all gayness. (aside from the bad plural they, "they are the only people", lmao pls no)

it made absolute NO sense in that scene, because jinguji then literally goes and says he will fight for tachibana to be a guy again. why would he use "they" if he clearly still sees him as a guy? japanese mostly has a gender-neutral language, but with that logic we would have to translate all pronouns as "they/their" all the time bc we don't know for sure what people mean. but when jinguji sees tachibana as a guy, translate it as "he/him"

+ just a few chapters later jinguji literally says he knows tachibana is a dude and he recognizes him as a guy, and tachibana uses the men's bath lol (utterly confusing for all people who don't know japanese grammar and are unaware of the translators changing it)

it makes a tiny little bit more sense now, but tachibana still only questioned his gender and body in his - thoughts -, and simply asked jinguji what he would prefer him to be and that he feels less useless as a girl and how it's more practical for their plan blabla, definitely doesn't warrant to change someone's pronouns. since japanese doesn't really have them, it's not like tachibana would ask for others, but jinguji changing (in the translation) how he addresses tachibana on his own is #rude and not #transsupportive lol, he canonly didn't even question how he should address him or what tachibana would prefer, so it's all the translation.

i would prefer it if the translators would just stick to the source material and not alter some unnecessary stuff that make the english version harder to grasp, AT LEAST just use his name, but wtv.

You brought up really good points and seeing as I don't have and can't read the raws, I can't say whether "they" was the correct form to use in the contexts

But hey, I'll still celebrate the queerness of the manga regardless of the translation issues

How is it queer baiting when the side wlw couple acknowledge one another (even the "straight" girl accepted she's in love w a woman) is canon? And the black hair MC obviously has 1 side crush on his bff, without this event ever happened, he'd never knew because he'll still stick by his bff side n is fine w being "single" because again, he's still w his bff (the bff is too average n kinda pathetic to find love so he'll likely stick w him too)

Oh wait, SO SORRY I read it too fast n thought you were complaining it's queer baiting. Please ignore my 1st comment
