Basically Kanna knew she was going to die and time travel and possessed her mothers body and the told the father to protect Kanna and basically seduced him if I'm not wrong. Father knew it wasn't the mom since the mom didn't love him and I guess knew she was Kanna and fell in love with her. Ever since he has been waiting for her to be an adult
