His childhood made me sad so I’m also happy he got this ending. He did bad things so he got his punishment too but that turned out to be his reward as well
I was happy too! The surprise was the cherry on top of a fantastic story.
Am I the only one who was actually happy Pilgyeon got the peace he so desperately needed? He was evil, but I feel like he was a product of his surroundings. Not that it excuses his actions but it does both explain them and some a slight sense of sympathy toward him. I really felt like completely erasing him from his memory is the absolute best gift he'd ever given him. Now he can finally move on.
