dh’s grandma tells him that he should work abroad, so dh visits sw one last time in the hospital before he goes overseas. he tells sw how he truly feels and apologizes, i think? sw responds and tells him that if he wants anyone, even if it isn’t him, then he needs to change his attitude/personality. dh says that he’ll do anything to prove that he can change his behavior. obviously, this does not justify any of his past behavior but i’m impressed because he didn’t let his pride control him.
I’m not sure how to feel about the side story. I really like the best friend. I love how genuine his love and care is for his friends and how protective he is of his younger coworkers. Since it was mentioned earlier in the story that he also treated his partners a little rough I thought maybe he would have a sadistic side to him, hence him being the love interest of the red haired dude, to like, teach him a lesson but even if that was the point (which I don’t think it is) idk how I feel about to since the red haired dude is so unlikable. I just feel like he deserves better.
I only believe a character is redeemable if they have changed actions/realize what they did was wrong, and so far red haired dude isn’t like that. I don’t like that the author is using him getting r*ped as the way from him to realize his actions up to this point were wrong. I mean it is kind of realistic because I feel like people often can’t sympathize unless it’s happened to them, it just kind of rubbed me the wrong way. Cause now he’s hurting and has ptsd and that’s causing him to be an even bigger asshole because trauma hits us all in different ways and I don’t see him redeeming himself tbh.
