You know, there's just something unfathomably UNsexy about a man competing with a literal child
And not just some random child - his OWN child!
He should be interested in taking care of his OWN child - whether or not his wife is - not view him as a competitor!?

But noooo...! When his wife didn't want to raise their kid, he acted like it was someone else's fucking problem. And now that she does want to care for the child he, instead of stepping UP as a fucking father, he steps BETWEEN mother and son...

As if she's supposed to care for them both equally when one is A CHILD and the other is a fucking ADULT.

Uuuuurgh! Nope, I'm out! I'm done!

You're totally right! I just convine myself that since its based in a novel/historical era, women didnt have much rights but were solely in charge of caring for their kids while the father has little to no responsibility in childcare until the children are older. Thats what i use to convinve myself when reading isekai mangas like this one.

YESSS thank you !! It is not endearing and it isn’t attractive at all - say it for the people at the back. I get the idea of a possessive man being attractive to some degree because wow he adores me so much that he just doesn’t want to share, but that is only attractive to a certain degree and after that it becomes psychotic.

And the thing here is, as you said, he is competing with his own child (!?) but I also gotta say why is the child viewing his dad as a competition? The weirdness is going both ways… I do find the ml weirder but it makes me just as uncomfortable how the child is acting. Normally a child would be happy for his father to give him attention - at that age your parents are your whole world, you are dependent on them and crave for their affection. But instead he sees him as a competition for his mother’s love/affection?

It’s really giving Sigmund Freud and that is never a good thing urgh

I mean it's not like the fl showed love to both of them from the start...it started suddenly. So they both crave that love for themselves since they got it suddenly and rarely especially the child just like how a person don't want to share special things to other and in this case her love is special and rare to both of them.So in your word the ''normally'' didn't happen since they never got to have her ''normally'' given love.
