then again in Korea the stigma is even heavier than in our parts of the world, especially if you are a man, so I can't judge how proportionate it is. Honestly if she had told the child protective services people they would have taken her away from her dad probably so it's good she didn't.

hmmm you may be right. Though prostitution is illegal in general in Korea, my thinking was that I am aware that "massage parlors" for men for example are quite a widespread phenomenon that most authorities turn a blind eye to, and female sex workers are considered more commonplace. I thought that probably a man being a sex worker would seem more shameful to his kids, though probably a woman would have to be afraid of violence against her as well. I guess in the end it's not a competition, both positions are very vulnerable in their own ways..
