Her ideal life would not have been the same bc she is not someone who can live happily alone. Some people can only be happy with like big families and people. She's one of those. Her goal to live alone wasn't even to be happy. Rn she chose not to be happy bc of her guilt to the painter and their child. Carcel makes her want to be happy. That is why she chose Carcel.
I feel so hurt for Inez, I know she will probably end up with Carcel but I still think that living her ideal life (living alone peacefully) would still have the same worth as the happy ending she'd get with Carcel.
