People have different opinions about fiction. MRM is also, I feel like, a very different audience than Mangago. I don't want to say anything too bad here -- but I feel as if the majority of Mangago's userbase is not old enough to use this site or be reading the contents. I have personal distastes, but I *don't* read them. I don't know, I think having debates on peoples morality based on their opinions on man(ga/hwa/hua) is, to be frank, stupid. (I would also rather not label myself anything relating to being a pro-shipper or an anti-shipper) But I don't let it affect me personally.

Yup and even I have of course, have genres that I despise with every fiber of my being but I'm not here attacking anyone, I do question their tastes but as long as you're NOT pushing that fiction is the same as reality and that person wants to happen things in real life, then everything is good.

But people here are just built different. Fr, exact thoughts. People here just straight up call you something you're not when you're reading something they dislike. Makes me wonder how they have so much time to do that. And you're right, I believe as well that many users here are not old enough or perhaps a bit young to be able to engage on certain genres or perhaps not really suitable for them.

There is a reason why porn is an 18+ affair (not that 18 magically makes you mature, it at least there is that expectation). A lot of yaoi is read by literal kids. And if these kids only get their sex ed from the porn they’re reading and then they see someone posting a very convincing argument for or against they just jump on that bandwagon without actually forming an opinion for themselves. It’s ok if you don’t want to read about certain things, it’s ok to be annoyed about certain tropes, but let’s talk about the elephant in the room. The biggest complain I see here is the rape=love or similar tropes. I think most people even very young ones know rape is wrong, so it’s not like anyone is being brainwashed to become rapists by reading about it. What people complain about is that these snot-nosed brats are reading these stories that “romanticize” rape and might believe it. What they fail to realize if that this a a very common, popular trope in romance, meaning that there is an audience for it, and this isn’t only reserved for BL. One of the biggest books in history has been 50 Shades of Gray and its sequels. I followed a blog who broke the books down very well and they pointed all the problematic BS in that book masquerading as “romance”. This series was massive. It even got movies, merch , grown ass adults wanting to emulate the “kinkyness” from said books, yet Christian Gray is such a red flag, yet many fans wanted their “own personal Christian Gray”. So people can complain all they want about toxic (mostly semes), but the authors aren’t pulling these ideas out of thin air. There is an audience for these types of stories, just look at how popular Jinx or PotN are.

Facts. I believe for young people who consume media that's too mature for them must received warnings. Or perhaps like in other sites, there is a pop up of "warning this content has 18+ or not suitable for ages etc." At least this gives them a heads up because let's be real, we can't stop kids snooping around and it's the digital age. They're bound to get curious. I think it's best if warnings were posted more often and especially here on mangago that it doesn't have the pop up feature to warn the younger audience or literally just straight up blocking them to enter a site that's not suitable for them. Moreover, there are also a lot of stories, usually the uploaders or some scanlation teams aren't stating what kind of land mines will be in the story.


In the end of the day, it's their choice what kind of media they consume. It's not in our control to stop them and even if we did try, will they listen? (Minors are such a pain lol) There are a lot of questionable and very *very* dark genres out there and if they do stumble across such stories, I just hope they don't mix fiction with reality up.
