Not really tho, it was stated that monsters don't have essence unless they stole it from people, so killing them only gives you essence if they already killed people. So either way people die.
Well I'm not going to argue for a fictional character, I don't think he is a good guy in any way but that's why I like him. Some people just like full on (fictional) villains.
He got essence while killing monsters who had just spawned when he found his first gate, so that's a loose end on the author's hands.
That said, I dislike him specifically because he isn't a full on villain, he takes on that moral high ground or whatever.
I'm not evil, this is for the greater good. He goes, with no remorse, acting like a villain while believing himself to be a hero. I find villains like that pathetic.
Btw, I understand ppl like him, not trying to argue nor anything, I'm just explaining why I don't.
I'm into villains who do their evil shit because they are evil and do shit for no "noble reason" and OWN UP to it without making excuses or trying to justify. For me justification only works if you feel bad about it. If you don't, then why justify?
The bastard knows that killing monsters gives essence but he chose to RUN from the monsters insteadof fighting them because killing humans is easier. Fuck him. Every monster wave gives around 1k essences. In less than an hour there were two waves, he could've done it without murdering any innocent person, scummy MC and not even in the fun "yes, I'm a villain, Iuse, take advantage of and kill people" he's genuinely, full Eren Jaeger, thinking he's a good guy.
