He betrayed her for political reasons, to rise in ranks. He didn't realize he actually loved her until she died. He felt regret (personally, I don't give a fuck, i hate him) and turned back time so he could change things. Turns out though, that what he felt was not really love, but obsession because he disregards her will on everything and tries to do things the way his delusional little mind thinks is right. In other words, he's a selfish motherfucker.

i don’t understand how he can betray her in her past life, what was the reason? i was thinking at the start that the sister might have lied and might be some kind of misunderstanding but i read some comments saying he actually betrayed her before. can sm1 explain please
