well sure but if the dominant masculine presence in your life is a father who beats you and then suddenly your brother acts in the same way, even if to protect you, as an underage girl I don't think it's bizarre to make that connection, no matter how you know it's not realistic.
Trauma paralyzes you in illogical ways like that. I mean I'm sure by now as adults their relationship is different, but obviously back then they both processed their trauma differently. It's obvious she wasn't blaming him for something, she just didn't know what to do with her fear of him. Of course for him that rejection made it even harder, but as he was growing into a man he wasn't fundamentally afraid of his father the way she was.
Imagine how shitty this is for him….your brother kicked your abusive dad’s ass and rather than you helping him kick his ass further your start acting like he’s the next monster such a shitty hypocrite, and the mother is says such a shitty thing to her son. Tf is this!!!!! Like he’s a big strong boy and he’s trying to be protective of his own self and both of y’all, when my Aunt’s husband started abusing her, it was her daughter who fucked him up and the son joined in and he ran away like a coward, and they’ve been inseparable ever since, thick as theives. This sucks and I feel so sad for him.
