Personally I think that making extras for each volume for the explanation page would be better than having them directly after the chapter. It wouldn't ruin the flow of the comic that much. They are pretty helpful for some, like the fire extinguisher joke, but for the rest it's just kinda hammering it in. I do like the tiny drawings done for the explanation pages though.
