People who read the novel did confirm she falls for him. But she doesn’t admit that and keeps it to herself. She realizes that the guy loves her and is happy she’ll achieve her goal by dying. Aka killing the woman he loves.

Regardless she doesn’t give him the satisfaction or happiness by the fact that she fell for him. She keeps such feelings to herself. Even if it’s not a happy end overall, she ultimately accomplishes her goal and he does end up unhappy for the rest of his life. She tells him hurtful things before she dies and basically crushes his hopes. Even if she doesn’t get a happier ending, she achieves her most wanted goal which was revenge. I would rather have this ending and have him suffer instead of have them be happy together just cause they have mutual feelings
