this would make a lot of sense tbh. I feel sakoto just wrote him a letter that she lived happily after all or something she told junpei to give him after her death or something. I also think junpei will just not accept to be left alone crying for her.. that just seem more like kotaro
But if Satoko asks Shinpei not to die and live out his life before she dies he might just do that yk. But if the man was Kotaro then the text that said “I was very happy” would deny it wouldn’t it? Satoko chose Shinpei over him and he would’ve saw his love with another man until she dies and I bet that wouldn’t be nice to look at. Also there’s literally fireflies surrounding him so I think it really is Shinpei in the first page.
to be honest I've heard a lot of arguments about who that person may be and I just can't wait to actually see who was right lmao
I actually don't think that the man in the first chapter is Shinpei, I think he loves her so much there is no way he would continue living without her.
I think It could be the other guy, lamenting her death. Maybe she and Shinpei ran awat together or died together young
