I think it was more like imitating what his mom did to him to someone in a similar situation. he liked his mom so he let her strangle him, after she died, he took her role and strangled someone that liked him. the abused becomes the abuser type of thing. he definitely COULD hurt him or pressure him into stuff, but he would not hurt him with the knife that's kinda.. reserved to himself? Just like his mom had it for herself.
locking the door and that red thing (im assuming that's a knife?) isn't a good sign cos ML has a history of physically assaulting someone bro im reading next chapter with one eye closed.
