I don’t think that she was really fighting to just die. Tbh it seems more like she was captured by this obsessive entity and was like kidnapped from her own world. It was so obsessed with her unique soul that it made every effort to keep her from getting away. You can somewhat see the influence of the “rules” slowly corrupting the flow of the original story and just as she was getting closer to her escape it became viciously desperate and warped the minds of the male harem. They all became obsessed with saving her life at all costs, even though it made no sense to even to the male harem members!
