I mean I think he needs money so restaurant job is the right decision for his family. But his dream is to be a police officer. He must be suppressing his dream but acting like it's fine.

I thought he could've been abused or wanting to get away from his family so he wants to join police academy. Here in my country at least you'd have to live in a dorm during your education Perhaps a td bit too tragic for this fluffy manga
I feel like it was more like him saying he's such a private person so he wants to keep what he's gonna do in the future to himself until he achieves it. Like he doesn't want to tell anyone that he wants to become a police officer just in case he ends up failing, which is probably why he said at a restaurant because that could be his backup for if he were to fail the exam
I wonder why did he has to hide the fact he's planning to join the police force I feel like my boy here has some sadness he hides
