Don't take it personal, Japanese culture as a whole is notoriously xenophobic and isolated. They present cartoons versions of all cultures alike. For instance all white foreigners are always blond, latinx characters don't exist, and other Asian cultures are never included other than Chinese (and usually in a negative connotation). My jaw literally DROPPED when I saw how the author drew the black character,,,he literally looks like a jim crow caricature. Like is it THAT hard to just draw us normally.
