I liked it until he just stopped talking to him and graduation came. I thought things were going to improve after his old school buds came to beat up Akira but Akira literally went m.I.a. it was just weird in terms of pacing. Then we find out he joined the yakuza. Like I wanted more of them getting closer in school, growing, and possibly reiji helping akira and his friends overcome stereotypes and find a way in life even if it wasn't anything crazy drastic, but something they could learn to do. Instead Akira becomes a prostitute for the yakuza, helping to sell drugs etc. And it isn't until the yakuza beat him down for losing drugs that he asks Reiji for help. And then they get together, but he hasn't improved himself even then. It started interesting and just went downhill. Actually disappointed. It ends happy tho and still glad I read it. Just unfortunate progression honestly.
