It’s probably the side story, with an alternate universe where Jing Shao went back to when he was still a kid instead of the day after his wedding. Not only will he meet his future wife earlier and avoid most of the problems he faced in the current one, like not being rough with him during their first time, but he will have the chance to save his mother. Life would be easier and better if his mother was still empress compared to the evil step empress.
The main timeline is done. This is just the side story. From chapters 1-135 is the main story. Chapter 136-150 is the side story or alternate universe with Jing Shao being reborn when he was 6 and meeting his future wife earlier.
This is a spoiler/summary for what happens in side story if you don’t want to continue readying.
He had the Emperor make Jing Quin become his companion/friend since they were around the same age and stopped Jing Quin from being bullied by the members of his family since he’s to be living in the palace to study along side the princes. Only visiting his family every 10 days. He made sure that not only do they have a good relationship before they get married, but also that his wife achieves his dream of working in the royal court. He even tried to distance himself to let his wife achieve it by going to war when he was 14 and returning three years later when he was 17. Originally royal spouses/concubines are not allowed to work in the court once they marry into the royal family. But the Emperor changed the rule, cause he saw how much his third son was in love with Jing Quin and was willing to leave the royals to join the Mu family, but princes are not allowed to marry into another family, their spouses have to marry into the royal family not the other way around. Since he’s apparently the favourite son, the Emperor was ok with it. Tho Jing Quin was worried that he Jing Shao won’t be able to become emperor and that the emperor was using him to stop him being able to take the throne. Not that Jing Shao wanted it, he was happy to let his older brother take, he just wanted to marry Jing Quin. Also Jing Shao was able to save his mother from dying. Tho he didn’t know that she was poisoned by the step-empress, which caused her to miscarriage and die. Everyone believed it was from bleeding so much from the miscarriage. He only knew about the poisoning in the main time. But he did stop her from being pregnant with unborn sister, which seemed to have worked since she’s was still alive. His elder brother, second prince did still become the Emperor, but he married that rival King that the fourth prince tried to catch and frame Jing Shao of being a traitor. He was married the King only after he became the Emperor. I’m guessing it will be difficult to be the Emperor if a prince takes a male wife, but it doesn’t matter if they become Emperor. The rule is only there cause the throne needs an someone who is able to produce an heir. The older brother was already married when Jing Shao got married, it’s probably the same this time round, so he most likely already has kids before he married the King.
Why did he go back to become much younger after chapter 135 and start again.
