In the 1st story, the main character was the big bro or the small bro I don't remember, like the big bro was supposed to become a villain, cuz small bro died, so in order for that not to happen, he could've just saved small bro and be with him, but he saved him as well as became a couple with big bro(I don't remember accurately but the system didn't say that making big bro fall for him was a task as well, right(?)) So I'm hoping that even though this purple eye dude is supposed to be the villain, we see a change and he tries to work on Xiao Changyu cuz that would be so interesting TT I hope I really REALLY hope so
Oh yeah in the first story the big bro was the protagonist. He was supposed to blacken after his little bro got killed. He was not a villain though, just that his story was about revenge. But yeah the systems could also stay as friends with the protagonists, though from the previous stories (and what I remember so far in the novel) it is most likely that they end up with the protagonists

I've read the novel and without spoiling too much, I can only say that Xiao Chengyu won't be the love interest. For what it's worth, the manhua here really downplay the kind of shit Chengyu did in the "original plot" but his design is quite nice so I get where you're coming from lol
