I'm not sure about that but for all I know
that guy urge moondae if he can try to kill himself. Because moondae have system, the theory is if he failed the task can it be start all over again in the starting point. So the guy can do again something and perfect it.
But take this with the grain of salt it been so long since I read it.

he kidnapped him, and they beat each other up when moondae freed himself. then he's chill for the rest of the novel and helps moondae.
is that the guy who obsessed to perpection that he always killed himself to start again???
