Well, I think the issue (from my point of view) is that other people aren’t understanding that we—the readers—are coming into a preexisting complex relationship between the MC and the other characters of his [in-game] race.
We’re seeing flashes of the MC’s history with the characters and how he treated them in the past [the game], which translates to their current view of him as he is now within the game itself—his current reality. But for the characters within the game in the past, our MC was always there until he “disappeared” or rather just logged out to never log back in until the “game” dragged him inside.

Oh, good! I'm glad you feel that way. After posting that reply, I suddenly realized that I was basically just explaining what's already been shown from a slightly different point of view. I felt kind of stupid after noticing that, lol.
Maybe? Or maybe they're just tired and can't process what they're reading right now. Who knows... (⌒▽⌒)
But I really don’t have a problem understanding this story. And no, I haven’t read the novel. Maybe it’s because I read a lot of regular romance empire-type webtoons? Not sure. Either way, I’m liking the intensity of it so far. It does feel a little rushed at times, but that’s inconsequential to me.
