both dark storm and dictatorship have the same author (of the novels) - Kim Shinhyung and illustrated by the same artist, so its more like the author really like that specifically plot and so done it twice lmao

…. I don’t think this is the dictatorship ripoff ppl are making it out to be. I literally looked it up to go read it & while there are similarities, it’s definitely different. Like all the similarities feel very surface level. Like the hair color is the same and the FL is Asian and dark haired (which most of these stories feature an Asian FL). They’re both bodyguards and the ml is rich. I could see this being inspired by dictatorship but I’m not seeing rip off. Remember all art is derivative and dictatorship isn’t some ground breaking new story either. It’s been done. Like at this point there is no story, art or music that’s wildly different than anything that’s already been made. There’s only so many ways notes or words can be arranged that we’ll enjoy. There’s no new colors or way of putting paint on canvas that hasn’t been done. Every author and artist was inspired someone. All that being said so far I’m liking dictatorship more. Again I’m only 22 chapters into Dark storm but the motivations of the fl in dictatorship make a lot more sense to me. Like dark storm’s fl has some of the same sht that mildly irritates me about other fl’s in other het romance I’ve read. But we’ll see, I only read to chapter 43 of dictatorship last night before bed, and I quit dark storm after 22 chapters to wait for more before continuing. But I’m glad I found these yesterday bc I needed something to read. I’ve been taking in a lot of horrific sht trying to stay informed & desperately needed a break from literal atrocities and war crimes. So I appreciate everyone comparing this to dictatorship bc it gave me something to read that I’m actually enjoying.
