Got nothing against adding colour to manga, it’s their way of catching up to the stories that are drawn with colour. Because let’s face it they are getting more and more popular and add a new immersive experience. My problem with it is that with mangas coloured in it’s never cohesive, there are times when it just doesn’t look right. The colours of the foreground and background clashing, the vibrancy of everything being way to bright that it hurts the eyes. Sometimes it feels like a lot of things are fighting for attention, so it often isn’t as good as the original black and white. I like this change as I enjoy seeing characters hair colour and eye colour, I just feel that we are in the early stages of these changes where they are still working on finding their footing on what looks good and what doesn’t. I hope that if they wish to add colour they bring in people with experience and can find the best colouring techniques that work on manga drawings.
