He is planning to quit military and he’s ML's mate.
I know, but the snake tribe doesn't know that. So out of context, the whole thing sounds wild. Imagine someone telling you randomly they will move into your territory next year (without asking you, the leader), after you just talked about them killing a bunch of your soldiers.
MC: *mentions how he plans to move to Serpent territory next year* because "I saw the place where I can finally settle"
Me: Can he... Can he do that?
But like FR doesn't he need permission to move there? Especially after a long time of war?
