I mean, they weren't exactly innocent. Hyoun was just protecting himself (and Taehyuk) from bandit/traffickers who wanted to kill them. In a harsh kill or be killed world, that's all that matters. Taehyuk was prolly like better them than me. Plus staying on good side of superpowered kid has it's advantages as well.
