Discussion - Shin and Jake’s relationship

Genuine question for y’all, I wanna know other people’s thoughts….

At this point in the story, do you think either Jake or Shin are actually in love? For me, I feel like from what we’ve seen so far and based on their personalities, I don’t either is in love with the other (yet!!). I think there are definitely “feelings” present, maybe intrigue, definitely lust, and Jake being possessive over Shin, but I don’t think we’re at the point of love yet. Shin is a little bit harder to read, especially since he was basically forced into this relationship and into Jake’s world (I also think I may need to reread to get a better feel) and he has been going with the flow and continuing to live his regular life but like I said before, there’s definitely something there.

What do you all think?

heavily agree with your thoughts, like their chemistry goes fucking craaaaazy and there's definitely strong feelings of lust and attraction and definitely possessiveness from k-eminem -> shin, but i don't think they're anywhere close to approaching actually intimacy and honest-to-goodness love/like. the story is definitely the slow-burn type in the feelings department, cause based on my own read of jake and shin as characters, they both kinda need to be able to prove to the other that they are willing to catch twenty bullets for the other and trust each other to safely turn their backs completely on each other without risk of backstabbing. their love is gonna be absolutely glorious when it comes into fruition though. definitely gonna be the "ride-or-die, us against the world, burn this whole city down for you" type of love - or at least, i hope that's the direction the author is gonna take :D

    for me, they're in love
but this is still hidden because only a part of this love is shown for now!

Jake is a controlling, methodical and cold person, but with each chapter we see him softening these characteristics through Shin

Shin is an individualistic person who distrusts everyone, but in each chapter we see him making space for Jake in his life and trusting him

That's when we see that their feelings are at greater levels than just lust and possessive obsession (Jake's case)

I think a nice way to show the depth of these feelings would be for Jake to put Shin in front of his mission, like actually ruining the mission to keep Shin safe
then he'd finally realize the intensity of his feelings for Shin

and Shin finding out who Jake is, which would make him wonder if his feelings for Jake are stronger than his trust issues

    I actually think they are.
Both of them are letting their guard down with each other more than with anyone else and both of them are doing most of their actions with the other in mind.
I grand its not an open and romantic love.
They just express it like people who never been genuinly loved or learned how to express their feelings
And at least for Shin we know thats how he grew up.
So yea.. love for not loving socialized people
