give it a couple more years i guess..
japanese bl as a genre is a lot older so it became more varied. there’s an abundance of it that’s why there’s a lot of interesting but also crappy ones.
creative plots in korean bls are rare in a way that there’s like, only two or three interesting ones a year lol. but i think it’s because korean bls have many chapters and the compensation/contract for their work are different compared to japanese mangaka. less creative freedom etc.
but yeah, story/art style wise goes to japanese bls for me.
hopefully more korean authors wouldn’t be afraid of experimenting with the storyline because every time there’s even a slightly interesting korean bl, it gets crazy famous with international audience. i guess it’s because they prefer coloured webtoon compared to black and white mangas.
Japanese bl are always creative and has well written stories where Korean bl has beautiful art but their stories has the same recycled plot
