Oh goooodd

I have such a love hate relationship with this manga.
On one hand I love how realistically it has handled the relationships that are there between the characters, I love how romance is not bounded by gender and most of all I really like the theme of Kowloon itself.
However
I don't think Koudo should end up with Kujirae. Even if this Kujirae somehow turns out to be the og one, I don't think he should end up with her. To me his character is the only weak link in the entire story. He projects the original Kujirae on mc. He's hypocritical, he gets mad when our MC tries to copy og Kujirae, yet won't let her completely be her own self either, it's like he enjoys the morbid struggle of her having nowhere to fit.

I would much rather that MC ends up with Youmei since it's clear that she really deeply cares for her well being and is the only person who sees Kujirae for who is she and not who she's supposed to be.

Also I don't really consider Miyuki and Gwen to be villains? Like there's no specific villainous role in this in the first place, it mostly shows how the one you need to brave at the end of the day is yourself.

Also one last thing I found so absolutely hilarious is that everyone keeps edging Kujirae on how she's not the original and she should move on and blah blah blah, but every single one of them is trapped in the last and has no intention of letting it go.

Yes, everyone BUT Youmei (which is what makes her even more so endearing) I gotta say, I love how Youmei keeps pestering her to move out (because let's be real, we ALL would) she feels like the only one who's genuine and open to Kujirai and I really appreciate her as a character

MC is not meant to be with anyone. She is a ghost-a veritable trap in ghost town. Koudo is trapped in memory of loved one, Youme battles with self esteem issue. They are both living being who are hiding. The whole point of story is to be one's own self and move on by making change. But it also mean they need to stop hiding and leave this place of dead and start living their own life.

Yeah, now that more chapters have updated I can definitely see that. It's apparant now that the entire Kowloon is something of an intangible place. A region that is entirely made from past memories. A place of constancy, where everyone is stuck in the same place where they were. Never changing and never trying to change
But when I had first commented it seemed like it was about to take a romance path, which made me make the comment in the first place
