it was bcs yjh's life was also his life and basically dokja was able to live bcs of his 'story' he grew to love it and cherish bcs that novel at that time was the only thing he have.
The way it was explained in the novel was because people are stories. So yjh represents Ways of Survival, the story that Dojka cherishes and kept on reading
