i feel like since we're reading it whenever it updates, we tend to forget other details of the story couple that with us probably reading other stories, the story does go "stale". we wouldn't feel it dragging this much if we were binge reading this but since we aren't it does feel like we're just getting blue-balled for the climax of this arc. it doesn't help that it the upload schedule for this is only twice a month but the author is probably overworked or having health problems too.
