No offense, I think you're the one isn't understand about how 'important' that words(I care more about you bla bla) to Jinwoo. Jinwoo is really need that words because his insecurity about himself, about can't be able make someone 'care' or see true self about him. Honestly Jinwoo's slump because he needs someone to love him not his 'work'. If you want re check when Jinwoo said to Colton about his past, the minjae guy just look at his 'work'(around ch 31) colton understand him so much, so why he said that lines. Later in author ending note(after ch 58 out, I was read about that in raw)
It will be explained that the exhibition with Colton was just 'bait' for Jinwoo to find someone who really loves him, who can judge him correctly, because Jinwoo's craving a lot about it. I think jinwoo so lucky have colton, mo one can understand Jin Woo's nature and even doesn't want to understand. Meanwhile, Colton always does analysis to find out Jinwoo's character, even he's wary being playing by jinwooo but he never ignore him and always do analysis. Re-reading again and feel about my comment, coz they're really beautiful for each other and it's make me warm to see their maturity.
No offence taken, I understand your perspective but it's also important to understand how saying it can cause further misunderstandings, we know that Damon was in slump and it literally took a lot for him to finish his art pieces this time around so simply saying he cares more about him and not his work kind of comes as insensitive to me. As an artist myself I consider my art a piece of me and if I ever receive such words from anyone, it is going to sting, yes i wanna be understood and want them to see me as who I am but that does not mean I want to be separated from my work, it doesn't need to be me vs my art, they aren't mutually exclusive like that. But considering Damon's past I understand why Colton must have said what he did and ik he had good intentions but he could've gone for something more like "I care about you and your art but your art isn't the reason why you're so dear to me, it's you that I love so ofc I love every aspect of your life including your work". But maybe I was expecting too much or maybe I took things too personally. Those words simply didn't sit right with me despite the author's good intention, ig it could've been executed better.
I guess I can feel about artist's pov too, because I also work in this world. But babe it's looks like your problem different from jinwoo. I don't say jinwoo vs his work, but that's just which one 'jinwoo craving/think important more' in his situation now( what he feels). Because from his work's perspective actually Jinwoo get more praising and success of them, but this also makes people use his works in a 'personal' goals (like his professor and his high school teacher). The problem is that Jinwoo feels like no one ever needs him 'as a person' without 'his work' people always needs him through the works That makes Jinwoo slump and has an impact on his work because no motivation with his presence, moreover about his love life(We know all romance relationship start from acquitances or friend, if the start not good how it will be go on to the next?). It can be said he was not slump because he had lost his skills or something relate just 'work', he was slumped because he needed to be seen as a 'human being' (also like he said before in the initial chapter). That's why he succeeded made ceramics again in ch 44 (this was confirmed by the author on his Twitter that the ceramics were because Colton had given signal about their relationship certainty, so it made Jinwoo enthusiastic), it indicates that Jinwoo trigger to gain the energy for slump is 'reassurance', the steps that Colton gave since ep 36 when bolder to Jinwoo, made Jinwoo enthusiastic. That indicates what is 'more important' for Jinwoo in this situation, getting someone who loves him, as I said earlier. So that's the point, Jinwoo is looking for someone who says to him 'I see you as a person, not just because of your work'(that's why when the first meeting while cigarrette 10 years ago, Jinwoo felt wavering, because he need that most). But it's ok I respect your pov, just Jinwoo is a different case, didn't mean to deny your opinion. I know it's so tricky, because I think same as you at first, thinking about the 'main problem' he feels stress about the works and his broken heart. Actually yes it's true, but turned out it's something more than that and it's about jinwoo himself who craving to be love. This psychology so goooood.
