It's badly written. So, we're supposed to suspend our disbelief at how OP he is? Old couple also claims to be warmongers but have little faith that their kid can survive out in the world? Not very warmonger mentality if you ask me.
Also, good heavens. What kind of parenting is this? How does it make sense to continuously lie to your kid about creatures being weak or his power being lackluster? How does that make sense? It's so contrary coz the sensible advice they could give him is proper control. Yet, they do nothing of the sort. He could level cities and they tell him, "What kind of incompetence is that? You're not doing good enough!"
