Somehow, when I read this, Shinji and Kaworu flickered through my mind for a second. Ofc, it's not a one-to-one comparison, but just the weight of having to be the one to end the person you care about, and for that person to want you to be the one to do so. Ultimately, you just wanna wish for their happiness wherever their soul may go.

to love a person enough to kill them is so beautiful. It’s not only show casing ur love for the person and the self sacrifice you have made but also your deep understanding of the person. You’re showing that you completely understand this person and accept who she is and not only to accept it but embrace it as well. To know this person enough to know will and won’t change and be fine with it and accept cause you love them is a sad but beautiful thing.
