I actually feel the same but I still like this BL and cannot stop reading. It's also the fact he told him: I like seeing you crying The seme looks a bit weird to me. He forced his way into the bottom life and even forced their sexual dynamic as well. He doesn't stop when the uke is in pain and starts crying. But still, I don't think he has bad intentions or something and they both seem deeply in love. The uke looks happy and finally at peace
I very much agree with everything you said except them being deeply in love part. I do think Dojun is starting to develop some feelings but it's too soon to consider it a deep love. Given his past, I think he's just found comfort in Taeseok's company, and the feeling of being desired and wanted feels good. Now Taeseok on the other hand.. given his behavior, in my opinion what he feels towards Dojun is only sexual lust. I don't sense any genuine affection, or respect for that matter. He wanted to sleep with Dojun so bad, had his way with him, coerced and forced him into bottoming despite very obvious signs of discomfort, which he blatantly ignored. and I'm afraid Dojun is gonna get his feelings hurt at some point.. but ofc I hope I'm wrong.
The art is gorgeous. And I'm going to keep reading because objectively speaking, I like the writing. It's pretty layered and complex. Like, the fact that Taeseok is portrayed as this "good" lover (most readers see him that way too) when in reality, if you really unpack everything that's happened and pay attention to the nuances, he's been nothing but selfish and manipulative - that's good writing imo. But I don't and probably won't ever like him. something about him really irks me..
totally agree. the use clearly has issues and considering his background it's no surprise he is so easily swayed after a couple of sweet phrases and kisses he obviously craves affection which he has never received and the seme totally knows it in my opinion, he know what to say and what to do to make the uke do his bidding. so to me that reads as manipulative af
That's exactly what I meant thank you!!! I mentioned in one of my earlier comments that Taeseok's taking advantage of Dojun's vulnerabilities. He's using his weakness and subconscious need for affection as a tool to fulfill his own wants and whims. That's not a loving act, it's manipulative. I can't believe how so many people see him as a "green flag" when all I see is red!
For a long time I was expecting a plot twist and that the seme will reveal his true nature. Especially after their first sexual experience, but it seems the author wants to keep him as a 'good character'. I then realized I misjudged him. He definitely looks manipulative and forceful but I ended up thinking it's just a bad narrative. Something is off with his behavior and the issue may come from the plot. By wanting to add layers to his personality the author actually made him confusing. So far it doesn't seems he enjoys making the uke suffer or anything but he is rather obsessed with him because he cannot stand not having what he craves. Does that makes him a red flag? Definitely. But if his feelings towards the uke are genuine so I am not sure anymore. A rival will be joining very soon so let's see how they both handle the situation...
these authors loooove the whole exhausted, reluctant, “says stop but doesn’t mean it” bottom thing (very weird btw). add that to the rich/poor power dynamic, and irl this sex would be dubcon at best. the top is absolutely manipulative, but the author portrays him so positively that we have to assume he’s doing it unknowingly.
yeah I mean I guess the whole concept of being emotionally manipulative and the power dynamics between a person who is clearly struggling mentally and a rich asshole (pardon my french) who takes advantage of it is so foreign to the author. he is sweet and loving but it all reads as manipulative and obsessive in my opinion, it's like yeah he loves him but he has to do this and that with no middle ground or discussion. he doesn't even take bottoming into consideration, he knows he can act cute and get away with most things, maybe I'm reading too much into it but that's just me having trust issues
nah ur not reading into it it’s a major red flag. this story is actually an almost textbook perfect example of how most ppl end up in abusive relationships, so i was kinda hoping/expecting it to explore how toxic this dynamic can be. but it doesn’t seem like that’s what’s happening, so what can u do
you're definitely not reading into it, it's pretty obvious if you ask me. I've been saying this from the very start since he showed up and pushed his way into Dojun's life. The forced bottoming was really the last straw for me. His manipulative behavior makes me so uncomfortable!! especially because the author put the "good lover" disguise on him, it feels worse than when characters are just blatantly toxic and scream red flag. this guy is hiding under a "green flag"
something about their relationship just makes me incredibly uncomfortable like it all feels forced and manipulative I really can't get past how relentless the seme was at the beginning to just sleep with him and get him to bottom bruh i think imma stop reading
