    i think it's the king rebelling against the norm! although this story is heavily inspired by ancient egypt, it's not completely the same when it comes to the religion. anubis is by no means considered an evil god by the ancient egyptians- they thought of him as a protector.
    the king hates the god that sute worships (which probably is based off horus) because of how his mother died so easily after believing in god and how sute couldn't recover from his illness until he used a forbidden technique making him turn crazy. refusing to worship the usual god and instead claiming to believe in a god of death will set apart his and sute's images
