it's already in the plot, he saw first human which is a child, that's why he took a child form. if you ask why author chose a kid for first human he see is mostly bc the author wanted to point out how hyo un is like a baby, having no mentor and experience on how to be a proper mythical beast, and imo it's very easy to understand. unless you just want to keep on seeing him in a child form weird or ped*phile ish (which is shows that you don't understand the story)

People tripping. I agree. Hyo-un isn't a just a child physically, but also mentally. The fact that one of them takes the role of guardian/caretaker to a child is just gross and unnerving.
