Yeah, it's a problem that Asian countries have. Because there is no diveristy in these countries, they don't understand racial/cultural issues and misrepresentation in entertainment. It's like the author of Ghost in the Shell. He/She really thinks there's no problem with Hollywood whitewashing the movie.
Yaoi, screwing race and culture one stereotype at a time. I cringe at the dark 'exotic' asshole man trope bringing in whatever culture they could find. This is literal description of an author just making things up along the way about the culture that the work is inspired from. Seriously, it's like, "oh that looks nice. Ok, imma just murder an actual culture by just making a story according to my Godamn fetish." And these kind of semes are always portrayed to be assholes with patronizing words that treat ppl like objects even when they have sex. Ppl please. No matter the story, it's weird to over exotify a country, the culture and the ppl. They are not objects.
To be fair, artist ps can draw what they want cos they are bound by their limited experiences of the world. But still is a little decency and respect too much to ask for? I wish there are more works that can be on the same level as ouji to kotori or higher and not this.
