yeaaah. i really think it's just a plot hole. the mc knows that his friend jenny is mentally ill & so it doesn't really add up as to why he wanna get revenge for her. 100% of her stories are just her delusion & he's aware of it. I think the reason he keeps wanting to get close to ml is not really a revenge for jenny, but for himself cuz a part of him is still sad and angry to what happened before. also he keeps avoiding his feelings for ml but he unconsciously expects the ml to see him even when jenny is around.. so i think it's really just unrequited love masked in so-called revenge for jenny.
and the so-called "mission" he wanna do is just to satisfy his conscience cuz he can't accept the fact that he got feelings at his bestfriend's crush. it's like he just wanna punished himself.
Hes basically is in love with the ml but since Jennie also liked the ml he feels resentment and guilt so he wants to put the blame on someone thats why he wants "revenge"

From what I remember Inseob was kinda doubtful with Jennie's story with the prince.. y'know that feeling that you know it can be just lies but still choose to believe cos it might true..
Inseob put his feelings in writing the letters. Plus he's interacting with WY in their Korean school(?). So, at some point he thought that they kinda have some kind connection the way WY treated him.
But then there came the party where we all know that they were both humiliated with WY obviously treated them indifferently like he really don't know them esp Inseob. Come to think of it they didn't have just a moment of interaction but they really talked to each other a couple times. This is where Inseob realized he is nothing to this guy.. we all know that him getting mad to Jennie is just as front of his frustrations, embarrassment, and anger for WY. Then there Inseob one sidedly cutting ties with his best friend, had to undergo operation + having that girl offer her heart for him + unable to have a proper closure with her + the revelation that she really told him some truth about her basically led him to be guilty. With what happened with WY, for him, there really is a possibility that he's one of those who pranked her through the letter. It was guilt for his friend and him feeling betrayed that his feelings were nothing for the other guy was what pushed him for revenge.

I remember that in the later part, it was revealed by WY that it was Melinda who wrote the letter since she's also taking the Korean class. So yeah this wasn't left hanging. I don't exactly remember if it was Inseob who asked but yeah basically he really thought WY did answer his letters and was the one who pranked them.
Honestly even if the seme is the worst of all. He wasn't responsible for Jennie's death. It was obviously his friends who pranked her with letters pretending to be the seme and humiliated her in the party as well.
So, it doesn't add up to me why uke is getting revenge from him.
