He'd been showing signs early on, but he didn't realize it until later on. I'm amazed at how the story plot was so good until it just flat out bottomed out from how the reviews were when they got the fourth volume of the story.

I don't care that the real diabel sold his soul to the devil to protect her, and now the devil diabel doesn't have the feels for her and SOMEHOW near the end catches feelings?
