If you haven’t read this manga, you REALLY don’t want to read this spoiler. If you HAVE read volumes 1 through 3, then you might find this helpful since I’m reading in the comments that either some people are confused, or they’re mistaking the ending for something else. Sen and Swordfish cut a deal to cooperate with officials in an operation to bust the warden. However, the warden and his cronies were a part of a large crime syndicate so that put both Sen and Sword’s lives in grave danger. The only way to guarantee their survival was to make it look like they were killed, so they acted out that whole fight and killing scene, with undercover agents in place to ensure it looked real. Afterwards, Sen and Sword were put in the Witness Protection Program where they were moved to a remote place (looks like an island outside the US) and their identities were changed
