I see so many ppl shiting on this story becuz MC is their definition of strength and it just leaves me speechless. If it's not ur type of story just move on. If ur just complaining about the actual character of the MC, that's not constructive criticism of the story..... I love how this story shows MC growing and learning to gain confidence again

It's crazy how many readers here are devoid of empathy. People that haven't been privileged can see how strong Ruby is for enduring this mental and physical torture. But then again, realism is not for everyone. While no doubt stories where the female protagonist immediately becomes strong, thinks of a plan and changes all the events like a complete genius are nice, sometimes it's not bad for us to see the perspective of a genuinely abused person, who starts up their story completely alone, with their confidence crushed on the feet of their abuser and with ZERO recourses or allies.A person that has been abused and brainwashed for years, treated worse than an animal for slaughter isn't suddenly gonna forget all their traumas and become the "stereotypical" image of a baddie. Strength isn't only the shallow, surface version you see on overpowered characters. Strength is also the ability to hope, the ability to live on despite going through massive amounts of mental and physical pain and more than anything, the ability to little by little get over your traumas and start loving yourself again. You can love unrealistically strong characters but hating on any other version of them will only limit your understanding of human nature.
