That was exactly the point, the universe in wich he was born, is demanding he submits to a gender especific roll, he is a lone voice that said "no way, I prefer to stick it in that take it in the ass".
On the uber gender opresive world, that is the omegaverse the omegas are the lowest class, they hardly are given the oportunity to fend for themselves and the highest they can look up to is get the atention of a strong alpha, to be kept as wife's(lovers, mistress or pets)
Just declaring in an adverse world, "I know my options, but I dont agree with them, and I really would rather be the needle than the pincushion" is a very admirable trait and a step to a more equaly balance imaginary society.
I guess I prefer some of the omegaverse writings that Buck the system with their personality while the physical characteristics stay the same, because without the physical characteristics it doesn't seem like omegaverse. There's stories where the Omega is intelligent, independent, and a leader....but still has heat and is a uke, a strong uke. This could wind up being that way, it's just right now it seems like just yaoi, not omegaverse. Maybe that explains my thoughts a little more.
I perfectly understand and agree with what you're saying. If the omega isn't going to be a impregnated, then it's no longer an omegaverse storyline but just another random Yaoi story. Yes, the universe they exist in force them to be submissive, but the point is they can have children when IRL men can not. In other omegaverse stories the uke/omega have proven to be strong and not submissive, that's going against their predetermined roles. What this omega is doing is just like not wanting to be bottomed because of his physical appearance. That's just another normal Yaoi story, not an omegaverse one.
After seeing the JP raws, I have to confirm that indeed this doesn't appear have an omegaverse vibe. It's just another Yaoi where the magaka's made the uke to be the more muscular looking males and the semes the smaller framed, more feminine looking males. The uniqueness that the omegaverse offers to us is that we can see men bearing babies. The fact that the couple in this story won't, makes it a poiintless omegaverse plot. I get that she was trying to think outside the box, but the author could have paired two omega instead, then the couple could have probably (magically) had a baby. That would have been interesting.
I'm not trying to be a jerk, but what makes him so different from a beta? One of the defining themes of omega verse is the delineation of alpha, omega, beta...but this doesn't have that (athe least so far) so what makes it different from just other yaoi? It's cute, and I like it, but just doesn't seem like omegaverse. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
