So right! Like, I can see why those haters on the prince comments think that but it also makes me so angry reading them. Like it's obvious why. And I guess there's the 'that's no excuse' answer but it would be like a fish trying to learn how to walk on land. The original prince had no way of behaving healthily without guidance. Which he got none.
For reallllll. Women had it tough then but illegitimate children were treated less then human. She at least had somewhere to eat sleep and socialize while he had to grasp for the tinest bit of ANYTHING for him to survive. It's no wonder he failed to bond with her. And I know she also was trying to get out of the quicksand too but she had 2 husbands and didn't wisen up or strengthen up? (nah I'm still thinking on that because I'm thinking from a modern persons perspective...)
Leoni's reaction is totally normal and I'm looking forward to her warming up to little princey but I think she forgets what abuse the past prince would have gone through, of course it was hard for him to communicate how much he loved his wife, he didn't know how!
He never had anybody to love him in the past, how is he supposed to know how to show that affection? Not to mention he's had trouble physically with speaking! Of course that humiliation and embarrassment would have impeded his social life.
