I think it says it has been a year since his dad's business failed. So, MC was already in music major when his family situation was alright back then. I guess MC didn't want to switch majors... prob cause he does like music and it is also prob the only thing he can control (even if his degree won't give him bank).
I might be just old, but I can't get over how impractical their major is specially for uke, if situation bad, why major bad too???
