I think the reason he doesn't talk is bcs of his stutter he is ashamed or scared to speak, he went through a lot of abuse so he's very closed in, besides he didn't want Leoni to die he killed her father in that painting so help Leoni I'm sure. He is a good person just doesn't know how to communicate and Leoni was aslo hurt a lot so her efforts to understand the Prince were very minimal
