I see!! I get my mistake of having no right to comment on this as I'm not black.........but how do you want a black person to be drawn?, it's not the first webtoon with this art style for particular race, if you can accept others why can't you accept this also that character was a villian it'll obviously be ugly, people didn't have any problem when ugly korean characters were shown with weird drawings, do you really believe they look like that???? but when it came to black people it suddenly turned racist, how come you okay with that but not this, if people had talked about that slur in particular it was understandable even I believe that the use of that shameful slang was unnecessary and ridiculous, totally disgusting!!!
When I mentioned I can't comment on whether blacks discriminate or not it was because........'what if they do', how can you be so sure of your whole race especially the ones living in western countries, the creators aren't foolish that they would draw some topic in story if they haven't heard, seen or faced that particular thing..... as I said the creators in their wildest dreams wouldn't have imagined that this'll get such huge backslash otherwise they wouldn't have drawn it in the 1st place who'd want to ruin their means of bread and butter.... in my opinion that's why in their apology they just 'accepted everything' to ease people's anger and settle this matter as soon as possible, so tell me was the way it was drawn the reason for it to be called racist and such reaction!?....
This is such a bad take bc when Asian ppl are drawn bad everyone says something like you are trying to say racism only work for the favor of black ppl which is wrong and the fact that they can’t draw a black person “ugly” without it being stereotypical is quite literally sad whenthey could have look up black ppl in today. It wasn’t only the drawing it was that they said the n word and in their apology was such fricking bs and u continue to say BLACKS is insane
So what?? just because black characters are always drawn in such a degrading manner we should be okay with it??? the difference between them is that black people are ALWAYS drawn like that. if there a few pale skin characters drawn ugly no one would bat an eye cause once again pale skin people are always drawn gorgeously while black people will always be villainized. and about the other thing it would be a bit believed if it happened in America but it didn't. in what world would black people be a majority in korea?? one of the most colorist places to exist?? "the creators aren't foolish that they would draw some topic in story if they haven't heard, seen or faced that particular thing" but that's their job??? to make shit up to make a good story. but since you insist it must he real please show me the news arrivals of this happening in korea. a mixed person born and raised in korea bullying "pure" Koreans. let's call it what it is and not make any dumbass excuses. the author made up a fake scenario to excuses the villanization of black people and to excuses the use of a slur with YEARS of pain behind it.
No, No!!! I never made any excuses and calling it dumbass lol, I don't think I was ever rude when talking about this matter so plz be polite in what you say also you saying, "black will always be villianized" is so wrong, go and read those amazing stories out there on different apps and sites how beautifully this race is drawn, they aren't 'always' drawn like this and stories are top-notch.
It happens in western countries, in USA, well it's not only black people but both white and black people, I'm not saying everyone does it but they definitely do and that really hurts.
From the beginning I've said that the use of that slur is unforgivable.............but what I didn't understand is the drawing part, in all webtoons and manhwa you'll see some characters like this whether korean or any other race with that sterotipical image of that particular country and no one bats an eye and just laugh it off including those who're not happy with this webtoon, even those people whose country's stereotype is used don't mind much so how come it's fine with other race but not this particular race that was my question and all the villains till now in this story have been ugly if looks are the problem, that ugliness was to elevate their rotten personality whether it be korean or any other also I never insisted that there is discrimination, I said 'what if' I just wanted those answers...... and the apology well earlier I mentioned that after reading it, it seemed like they wanted to settle this matter as soon as possible so they just 'accepted everything' to cool down people which by the looks of it didnt do much, I'm not black and I don't know those stereotypes that pissed people off so much that's why I said had it been only for that slur it could've made sense because even I felt bad while reading it but the problem with the way it's drawn simply didn't made sense which made it like people are overreacting, your reply gave me little idea of what are main reasons for the cause of this anger.
@Icespicelover84 if I don't call blacks then how do you want me to refer it, I also can't call it mixed race as it'll include all of them not this one particular race which really has the problem!?...
you shouldn't use the term "blacks" because it's offensive. It's an outdated term. It it dehumanizes and depersonalizes the term and makes it into a noun. The problem with saying "The blacks" or "The gays" or "The muslims" is that you are getting rid of the word "people" and therefore distancing that particular community. It draws a circle around a group of people.
You are describing people, not boiling down the community just due to their race/sexuality/religion. Using the "blacks" or anything similar creates a distancing and dehumanizing effect. It's the same reason we don't use "colored people", or "colored" as a way to describe non-white people. That's why it's offensive.
I honestly suggest you do some research into the Jim Crow south and caricature art of black people before making such a brash comment. Drawing over exaggerated features of black people in order to make fun of them has been engraved into American history for hundreds of years. Hell, there's even a museum of all of the racist art pieces created in order to mock black people, and there are still people donating to the museum, art pieces created from 2015 are still being donated to this museum. It's a deep issue that stems from American history, and while the author is South Korean, he should've done way more research if he wanted to tackle something like racism.
To be honest people are overreacting...the way it was drawn wasn't at all that bad also he's portraying as a villian, which till now all of them have been ugly(looks and personality)!!........what I agree is the use of the slurs was unnecessary, first half of this chapter was alright, they messed up in the latter parts of the chapter also I don't really know if blacks really discriminate against asians so I can't comment on that........the creators are getting too much hate infact I don't think their apology was some bs at least they accepted, I bet even they wouldn't have imagined that drawing a black person would cause them so much trouble....
