Is religion/beliefs enough to make that happen?

It seems really strange to me, that a man (king) who loves his kids so much, would neglect and let abuses happen to a such small baby, on the mere words of priests
I don’t understand how he can’t even look at her like she’s a person - not mentioning family
I find it crazy, but this is a common tale
- There’s a parabole like that in bouddha scripture with a kind being abusive to his son prophetised to kill him : in the en the son does kill the king who abused him so bad
- Oedipe is about the same story ; if the king hadn’t thrown the baby away for fear of a prophecy, nothing would have happened in the first place

What do you think ?
What would you do if your religious authority told you your child is cursed?

I'll smack that freaking religion. Even if my child becomes a psychopath, (which means it's a learned behavior) it's a lot safer to raised them doing everything you can to avoid such a thing from happening.

Than believing those arsehole who claims to be a God-serving servant but spout bullshits about killing.

I think she's also an illegitimate child, it looked like her mother had dark hair like her.
He might have used the prophecy as an excuse to neglect her, then later when the abuse began, he began to hate her to make it easier to ignore.
